You are aiming to continue your personal learning journey with training that is at Level 5
| If you are starting to teach from September 2007 you will need to work towards Qualified Teacher Status in the Lifelong Learning Sector (QTLS) and be licensed by the professional body: The Institute for Learning (IFL) | |||||
| You will have a mentor who may be from your organisation or with whom you have distant contact who will support you as you develop approaches to teaching your specialist subject. | In the first year of your teaching you need to apply for the Minimum Threshold Licence to Practice from the Institute for Learning. | You achieve this by successfully completing the award of Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) | |||
| You will have a mentor who may be from your organisation or with whom you have distant contact who will support you as you develop approaches to teaching your specialist subject. | Within five years of starting to teach you need to apply for registration with the Institute for Learning | You achieve this by successfully completing the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS). | |||
You then need to complete an induction period in which you undertake a minimum of 30 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) a year to be licensed by the IfL as a Qualified Teacher in the Learning and Skills Sector. Click this box for modules leading to further academic awards |
